Radical DFL politicians in St. Paul want to make Minnesota a sanctuary state like New York and California via the North Star Act. This absurd legislation prohibits state and local law enforcement from using state resources for the purpose of civil immigration enforcement—allowing drugs, gangs and terrorists to operate freely in our communities.

Our Take:
The Constitution of the United States establishes federal authority over immigration, including managing the border and enforcing immigration laws. The DFL-backed North Star Act dangerously contradicts this by prohibiting state and local law enforcement from cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This would open the floodgates for criminals, gangs, and terrorists to operate freely in our communities, importing the chaos on the southern border to our doorstep.
Minnesota must not become a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants. I joined the Minnesota Republican Congressional delegation in a letter to Governor Walz, expressing our grave concerns about the North Star Act. Instead of prioritizing illegal immigrants, lawmakers in St. Paul should stand with law enforcement, uphold the rule of law, and protect our communities.
